Yggdrasil (also The Tree of Life or The World Tree) is the tree where all life on Earth comes from. It is also the tree that unifies the Nine Realms together with it's branches. Believed to translate to "Odin's Horse" despite Odin's horse being Sleipnir. In the mythology, Odin is known to have hung himself from this tree as a sacrifice.

History[]

Agnetha / Freyja would constantly ask Ingrid / Snotra about Yggdrasil and its powers. (Magical Fluffy Bunny World) Agnetha then decided to send her son Anders / Bragi to retrieve a piece of Yggdrasil from its location in Norway and bring it back to her in New Zealand. (And Then She Will Come To You)

Eventually, after many hardships and setbacks, Anders reached Yggdrasil with the help of a guide, and removed a branch from the Tree of Life which he then took to New Zealand.

However the Yggdrasil Stick was detained by MAF Biosecurity since it was potentially a biohazard and prepared for fumigation. Anders attempted to use his power of manipulation to allow it to be released back to him before it could be, in fear of what it would do. However Axl / Odin was severely ill, and with that every God and Goddess had lost their powers, and thus Anders could not convince the MAF staff to release it. When Axl's status became critical and Olaf / Baldr began aging rapidly, Anders joined forces with Stacey / Fulla, who had made courier deliveries to the MAF, to break in and steal it away. After doing so, Stacey took the Yggdrasil Stick to Axl with the hope that it would heal him, however Mike / Ullr's effort proved useless. Only when Michele / Sjöfn took hold of the Stick and then touched Axl did it heal him. (Man-Flu)

Anders later took the Stick back to his place, but with Agnetha no longer in the picture, Anders had no idea how to use the Stick or what for. During his and Ty / Höðr's day of wine drinking took him to show it, and wondered if it could solve Ty's mortality issues and pressed it all over his body, though Ty thought that touching his privates area was disrespectful to Yggdrasil, though Anders was indifferent. (Everything Starts With Gaia)

After Michele learned from Ingrid that Yggdrasil was a feminine power (since women are capable of creating life from within themselves like the Tree), she broke into Anders' place and liberated the Stick into her possession. Hiding it at Mike's bar, she decided to use the Stick to give her the power to heal Mike's injured back, which worked. (Magical Fluffy Bunny World)

Soon Michele let Stacey and Ingrid in on her discovery, and told them of her given healing powers from Yggdrasil. Offering it for them to try, Stacey was made more lithe and able to perform amazing gymnastics, and Ingrid's mind was made clearer so that her Oracle powers gave her more knowledge. Since they were unable to hold their new powers for long without it, Michele suggested that they keep using it until they learned how to make certain they no longer needed the Stick to do so. (The House of Jerome)

After learning that Colin / Loki had been using surveillance equipment to spy on the Gods and Goddesses in the bar, and that he would know about Yggdrasil, Michele moved the Stick to Ty and Ingrid's place. Later when Ty asked Kvasir how to become mortal, Kvasir replied that one of the things they needed was a part of Yggdrasil, which he assumed they would not have. After Ingrid mixed a part of the Stick's branch into a tea, Ty consumed it and died, releasing his God Spirit. Michele then revived him using her healing powers from the Stick, but only after knocking Olaf out so that he wouldn't see. (You Call This the Real World?)

Attributes[]

As its name suggests Yggdrasil is possibly the source of life to all plant life on earth from everything to weeds, plants and trees.

It is established that only a female goddess can utilize Yggdrasil. However, it is implied by Olaf that there is a cost for usage, stating that it "gives and takes from those that give life".

Yggdrasill Norse mythology[]

Yggdrasill, Old Norse Mimameidr,  in Norse mythology, the world tree, a giant ash supporting the universe. One of its roots extended into Niflheim, the underworld; another into Jötunheim, land of the giants; and the third into Asgard, home of the gods. At its base were three wells: Urdarbrunnr (Well of Fate), from which the tree was watered by the Norns (the Fates); Hvergelmir (Roaring Kettle), in which dwelt Nidhogg, the monster that gnawed at the tree’s roots; and Mímisbrunnr (Mimir’s Well), source of wisdom, for the waters of which Odin sacrificed one of his eyes. After Ragnarök (Doomsday), the world tree, though badly shaken, was to be the source of new life.
