In Norse mythology, Heimdallr is the God of Foreknowledge, Keen eyesight & Hearing; Keeper of the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst and Guardian of Asgard.
Biography[]
Heimdallr possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn, owns the golden-maned horse Gulltoppr, has gold teeth, and is the son of Nine Mothers.
He is described as "the whitest of the gods" and keeps watch for the onset of Ragnarök while drinking fine mead in his dwelling Himinbjörg, located where the Bifröst meets heaven.
His senses are so good that, he can hear the grass grow and he can see to the end of the world. He can hear a leaf fall and he doesn't need any sleep at all. Heimdallr is the god who sees all and hears all and all the different realms, but his human-size brain can't cope the information overload, so inevitably he is barking mad.
Heimdallr can move between realms, and between places within those realms, and if he so chooses he can send any poor unfortunate any where he wants.
Heimdallr is said to be the originator of social classes among humanity and once regained Freyja's treasured possession Brísingamen while doing battle in the shape of a seal with Loki.
