Axl learns that the path to being a benevolent God, one who commands respect, is strewn with idiots and half-wits.
Axl’s good nature is being taken advantage of as Ty palms Ingrid off on him. Ingrid needs someone to take her to pick up someone named Danny, from an as-yet-to-be-disclosed location. Despite her assurances it won’t take long Axl then finds himself, with Ingrid, waiting in the middle of nowhere, where it transpires that Danny – an ex-psych nurse/lover of Ingrid’s – is just being released from prison. When Danny and Ingrid commence making love on the backseat of his car, Axl really regrets being a nice guy.
But it only gets worse for Axl as, encouraged by Gaia’s approval of his Mr. Nice Guy status, he soon finds that both Ingrid and Danny are getting drunk and stoned at his place, and end up crashing the night. During the course of this session Danny espouses his great idea to make a million buck: by starting a magic mushroom farm. While Axl and Gaia think the man is clearly deluded, Ingrid is totally up for the idea.
Mike, meanwhile, is having a busy time of it as a man turns up at the bar to deliver a legal document. Then he learns from Michele that Ty is researching ways to kill himself then come back to life. This leads him to Ty, who confesses he wants to find a way his Höðr-spirit can leave his body in the way he saw Eva’s Hel-spirit leave hers – but then coming back to life, unlike Eva. Mike refuses to help him in this near-suicidal quest, causing a rift between the brothers.
As well as dealing with all this, Mike is summoning various people to meetings – first of the Goddesses, then the Gods. At these meetings it transpires that Agnetha has left a ‘will’ of sorts, which bestows many millions of dollars on the recipients. The Goddesses get first crack at the money, as long as they can put the money towards something that will set them up for the rest of their lives – then the sons of Agnetha get whatever is left over. Mike thinks Ingrid’s plan to buy a farm fits this bill exactly.
But Axl is appalled that Ingrid is going to waste her money (and her life) on Danny’s insane magic-mushroom plan. After failing to convince Mike to deny Ingrid's request, Axl decides to leave Ingrid to herself, and complains to Zeb about not having the others respect him as they would Odin. Then Zeb plants the idea in his mind that he needs to buy their respect rather than earn it, which gives Axl an idea.
Mike continues to refuse to allow Ty to kill himself, but offers a possible alternative to losing his Godliness; find Kvasir and ask him if there is a way. The two set about trying to track him down. Axl kidnaps Ingrid from her motel room and takes her to the bar in preparation of an intervention. He calls upon his God and Goddess kin to tell Ingrid how mush she means to them, as a way of rebuilding her feelings of self-worth, however they come on the lie that he has found Frigg to get their attention.
The intervention goes excruciatingly badly, and Stacey, Mike and Olaf's on-the-spot excuses makes Ingrid feel more isolated from her own kind, until Ty steps forward to enlist Ingrid in his mission to find a safe way to attain mortality. Thus Ingrid is welcomed back into the fold, and Danny is banished; and Ty is free to ignore Mike’s disapproval and to seek what his heart desires. Meanwhile Dawn is awoken by the sudden arrival of Anders, now back from Norway.
