Derrick is a mad and temperamental farmer, who was the reincarnation of Thor; God of Thunder.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Derrick was adopted when he was young, and doesn't know who his parents are. What happened when he turned 21 is unknown, but when he was in prison for some time he learned from a fellow inmate (the mortal form of Tyr) that he was the reincarnate of Thor. Since then Derrick was married to a mortal named Sharon, and spawned a daughter, whom he believed was a Goddess because she was the daughter of a God (unaware both parents need to be Gods).

Season 1[]

Derrick noticed his grandmother Selma outdoors watching the sky and told her to get inside just as she was hit by a meteorite. At her funeral, Derrick comforted his sister Angelicka as she spoke about Selma. Back at the farm, Derrick was cooking on the barbecue when he was approached by Olaf and Ingrid, who asked if he was Thor. Derrick was immediately suspicious, and followed the pair and the others they had come with and demanded to know who they were. They said they were Gods and Goddesses, and one of the claimed to be Odin. Derrick didn't believe this at first, but realized they were telling the truth and bowed to Axl. Over a meal he learned of the group's quest to find Frigg and had been lead to him by Selma's death, and he assumed that his daughter Delphine was the one they were looking for.

Derrick sent everyone except Axl away, and led him out onto the farm where he showed his incredible accuracy in killing a rabbit by throwing his hammer from far away. He asked Axl to prove he wasn't just claiming to be Odin, and regretted it as one of his goats was killed, but said he'd brought it on himself. He took Axl to Delphine's room and left them to 'get to know each other' while he made a goat stew. When they came out Axl said they were going to take things slow, which Derrick didn't take too well. During dinner Axl finally took things too far and Derrick chased him outside and threw his hammer. Axl got hold of it and he demanded it back as Axl took control and told him Delphine wasn't a Goddess and she said that she was pregnant to another farmer, Ross. Derrick's temper rose, but Axl calmed him down by making him realize a child is a good thing and Derrick submitted to the Odin reincarnate, not wanting to question him. (Goddesses, Axl, Come In All Forms)

Between Seasons 1 and 2[]

He was said to have tried to kill Ross shortly before Delphine moved away with him, and his farm began to struggle. He began fueding with a homosexual couple, Thom and Kerry that moved onto a nearby farm and claimed ownership of some of his land. (Typical Auckland God)

Also since Axl's visit, all of Derrick's goats died because he ate them. (Magical Fluffy Bunny World)

Season 2[]

Derrick was 'working' in his outhouse when Axl called. Derrick was delighted to hear from Odin, and made it clear he was at his command. Axl requested that he come up to Auckland to help deal with a Giant problem, and though Derrick was initially unaware that their world had Giants in it and had never actually met one, stated he would love to kill one, and quickly left to head to Auckland. (Everything Starts With Gaia)

Upon arriving at Axl's flat, Derrick complained about the traffic, and immediately smelled pie, which indicated a Giant being around. Though learning Bryn was a midget Giant and on Axl's side, Derrick threatened him with his hammer, unwilling to trust him and only holding back by Axl's order. When Gaia, who was apparently destined to become Frigg, escaped, Derrick blamed Bryn even though he had never been out of his sight. Luckily Axl's brother Mike knew where she was, and Derrick drove the group in his truck to Mike's bar, driving extremely recklessly to Axl and Bryn's distaste.

2

Derrick's eager to kill a Giant

After meeting some of the other deitities gathered, Derrick was eager to kill and kill Eggther, though eventually the plan became that they would try to reason with him, to his disappointment. However once they were at the arranged meeting point, Derrick was barely able to contain himself and when he decided enough was enough, began chasing Eggther despite Axl's protest, and though he had him, Axl, Bryn and Mike held him back until Axl convinced him to back off. After the situation was resolved, Axl sent Derrick off on his way, though Derrick decided that he would check out the Sky Tower while he was around. (Magical Fluffy Bunny World)

Season 3[]

In the time between leaving Auckland and Axl's return, Derrick shouted at Thom and Kerry from his farm to turn down their feminine music. When they refused, he threw his hammer at their house, however they refused to give it back, causing Derrick to become both enraged and upset to to point of drinking (more than usual). (Typical Auckland God)

When Axl arrived at a pub in Whangamaungamoa, he was unpleasantly surprised to see Derrick stumble out of the bathroom drunk. Upon seeing Axl, Derrick groveled at his Lord Odin, and asked for his help in retrieving his hammer, which he claimed had been stolen by bandits. He then unceremoniously threw up on Axl's shoes. (And Then On to Norsewood)

Suzie and Axl had Thom take Derrick home, and when he learned that the gay couple had been in his house the next morning, he was livid, telling Axl that they had stolen his hammer. When Axl learned the truth, and that Thom and Kerry would return the hammer if he apologized to them, Derrick outright refused, and rejected their offer to buy his farm when they came to his farm later on. As Axl tried to reason with him, he asked Derrick if Suzie was a Goddess, but Derrick said he wasn't sure.

Thom and Kerry made Axl the offer of returning Derrick's hammer if Derrick came to their stag night at the pub to apologize, and if he wore the dress in his closet. Derrick told Axl that the dress was the one his wife had worn to their wedding, and he was weary of donning it because of the memory of her. He eventually relented and agreed to go, but only if Axl went dressed as his "bride". However when it came time to leave, Derrick found himself unable to go through with it, and instead prepared to hang himself.

When Axl found him, he pleaded for Derrick not to kill himself, but Derrick was insistant that he was a failure as a God and as a person, like Axl had told him earlier. Axl appealed that he too felt like a failure and that no one respected him, however Derrick said that he does respect Axl. Agreeing not to kill himself, he went to the bar with Axl and made a feeble attempt to apologize to Thom and Kerry, before showing them that he believed in love by singing the love song he had sung for his wife at their wedding, resolving the issues between them. The next day, Derrick and Suzie waved Axl goodbye as he left. (Typical Auckland God)

When Frigg and Odin were officially united together, Derrick's God Spirit of Thor left him and went home to Asgard along with all the other Gods and Goddesses who weren't present. How this affected him or his relationships with mortals (particularly his daughter) is unknown. (The End of the World As We Know It)

Personality[]

Thor is known to usually be "barking mad", and Derrick was no exception. He has a high temper when things don't go the way he wants or when people call him mad, and is also very stubborn. Evidently the only person that he has been calm towards was his now-deceased wife. He is also a homophobic, acting aggressively towards them.

Relationships[]

Known to have been married to a mortal woman, the mother of Delphine. Currently deceased.

Has an adopted sister and grandmother, who was killed by meteorite as a part of a sign.

About the god Thor[]

Thor,  deity common to all the early Germanic peoples, a great warrior represented as a red-bearded, middle-aged man of enormous strength, an implacable foe to the harmful race of giants but benevolent toward mankind. His figure was generally secondary to that of the god Odin, who in most traditions was his father; but in Iceland, and perhaps among all northern peoples except the royal families, he was apparently worshiped more than any other god. There is evidence that a corresponding deity named Thunor, or Thonar, was worshiped in England and continental Europe, but little is known about him.

Thor’s name was the Germanic word for thunder, and it was the thunderbolt that was represented by his hammer, the attribute most commonly associated with him. The hammer, Mjölnir, had many marvelous qualities, including that of returning to the thrower like a boomerang; it is frequently carved on runic stones and funerary stelae.

Among Thor’s chief enemies was the midgard serpent Jörmungandr, symbol of evil. According to tradition, Thor failed to smash the skull of Jörmungandr, and the two are destined to kill each other in the Ragnarök (the end of the world of gods and men).

Thor was sometimes equated with the Roman god Jupiter, dies Jovis (Jove’s day) becoming Thor’s day (Thursday).
