Biography[]

Early Life[]

When his father walked away from the family (Unleash the Kraken!) and his mother disappeared, Axl's upbringing was undertaken by Mike and his wife Valerie. (It's Kind Of a Birthday Present)

During his high school years, Axl and Zeb were friends with Amelia Tennant, and Axl was dubious about their friendship with her. When she prepared to perform oral on him after a costume party, Axl decided that they couldn't do it, since Zeb was there (albeit drunk and unconscious) and he didn't like her like that. Learning that she really ever on used Zeb to get close to him, Axl did his best to cut ties with Amelia, however Zeb did his best to stay in touch with her. (Unleash the Kraken!)

Mike and Val often unintentionally interfered with Axl trying to score with girls, before he moved out and into a flat with and Gaia. (This Is Where Duty Starts)

Season 1[]

“Am I a God now? Whoa, I feel like a God.” - Axl

“A million volts just coursed through your body, of course you feel like a bloody God.” - Mike

Axl was staring at the meteor shower when a car driven by Stacey almost ran him over. He decided to invite her to the flatmates party, where they started making out on the trampoline, but when an earthquake struck and chaos reigned. The next morning he was prepared to ignore Mike’s plan for a family gathering, wanting to hang out with Gaia, before Ty and Anders came to pick him up. Under the impression that he was going to the forest to meet his grandfather, Axl believed that Olaf’s claim of being his grandfather, and a Norse God like his brothers, were the results of a magic mushroom high. However once his brothers joined in on the explanation, Axl was shocked as Ty and Mike showed displays of apparent superpowers, and reluctantly stripped and entered the rings of stones with the family sword. However once a bolt of lightning struck him he felt amazing, and the concussed Olaf claimed that Axl was Odin, and Axl’s immediate concern was what his powers were.

After Mike dropped him off at home, he messed about with the sword before Zeb arrived and offered to swap a dagger for it, only for Axl to panic and cut the blade off. At Mike’s place, Axl was unsettled by Mike’s revelation that their mother wasn’t dead, but had left to become a tree before choosing to immerse himself in the festivities, before learning Olaf was awake. However as Olaf explained, the signs of Odin’s return would only prove he was Odin was they all came to pass, though most had already, however this just frustrated him. When a strange woman arrived and flirted with Axl, he was oblivious to her leading him to a trap, and she shot arrows at him twice (catching the first but being hit by the second). Luckily his brothers arrived and got him to hospital, and the arrowhead made the final sign come full circle, making him Odin. Though at first pleased, they told him he would need to find Frigg, Odin’s beloved, to restore their powers and status, or else if he died, they all would, and Axl was disheartened to feel the pressure. The exposure of Agnitha as the killer of Eva however, results in him passing a judgement that she should transform back into a tree for no less than a mortal life. After a brief sword fight with colin over the judgement, the sentence was carried out but Colin burned down the forest so that she could not survive.

Olaf-mia-1-

Axl's female form, Mia

After falling asleep in a woman's dress following a Pimp's & Ho's party, Axl woke up to find that he was a woman, and a "damn fine" at that. While Axl was freaking out about this, it appeared that everyone else only cared about how he now looked. Taking on the cover name Mia, Axl learned from Olaf that this change was likely to be because it was a sign that he needed to spy on someone. Eventually learning that it was because he/she needed to know how much Gaia despised his attitude towards women, Axl/Mia was depressed, and started fearing he/she would never change back. However Michele, through an idea of Mike's, showed him/her what a woman needs through sex, which turned him back into a man. However he found that Gaia still distrusted him because of her belief that he had mistreated Mia. (A Damn Fine Woman)

Personality[]

Axl is the fourth brother and the youngest of the Johnson family. Axl is an ordinary student, who become the 21-year old human incarnation of Odin, the big kahuna of Norse mythology, a deity with responsibilities far out-weighing anything Axl wants or needs in his life at his tender young age. Wisdom, victory and magic are among the many powers associated with Odin.

This is a life-changing event for a guy who hasn’t even managed to get laid yet. And the biggest swizz of all is that he doesn’t even get any cool God-powers to help him out – at least not in any consistent, controllable way. No, if he wants the cool stuff that goes with being a God he has to earn it through some kind of quest which means hooking up with a Goddess called Frigg but if he doesn’t do the Quest correctly it is possible that all his brothers might die. Not to mention there are some angry Goddesses who may or may not be trying to kill him along the way...

Man, sometimes life dishes out some real lemons when you’re an everyday God called Odin, who just wants to have fun.

Former Powers[]

While Axl was originally purported to not have any powers in spite of being Odin, he had demonstrated some abilities.

Clairvoyance -

Death inducement -

Enhanced intelligence -

Enhanced Reflexes - Axl's first demonstrated ability was increased reflexes, which allowed him to catch an arrow right in mid-air, as well as adapt to Michele's strikes with a knife during their second encounter.

Enhanced Strength - Axl later proved that he also had more strength than a normal person, first by throwing Derrick's hammer a great distance across his paddock. Another instance of his strength was when he managed to break free of a set of handcuffs binding him to a chair.

Enhanced wisdom -

Hunting intuition -

Increased Stamina - On at least one occasion, Axl had been incapable of getting intoxicated or high, regardless of how much he consumed. However since this instance, Axl had been drunk or stoned, suggesting that his original inability to lose focus was due to a specific emotional response.

Insanity inducement -

Magic -

Nigh omniscience -

Precognition -

Predator instinct -

Transformation - Axl once transformed in a woman (later learned to be the human form of Frigg), an ability of Odin's due to his nature of being able to change teams in order to discover things he needs to learn.

Visions - When Axl's eye was damaged, he had seen visions of Mike in a mirror telling him that Mike was also Odin. This is like the norse legends where Odin gave up his eye for knowledge.

War inducement -

Relationships[]

Gaia[]

Axl had always felt something for Gaia, but had been too blind to see it. After admitting his feelings for her, they slept together, and he promised to break things off with Eva, however due to complications he could not, and was unable to tell her why. Gaia believed that he had just used her as an outlet for pre-wedding jitters, and left for Waiheke with Jacob. Upon her return, Axl was concerned by her new behavior, and tried to look after her, but she refused to trust him.

When it was revealed by Bryn that Gaia was set to become Frigg, Axl was elated by this and tried to make her see that they were meant for one another, however she continued to be reluctant, even when they ran away together to avoid everyone putting pressure on her to be Frigg or Papatuanuku. However when she did eventual start to accept her dual destinies, she and Axl were happier together. But when Gaia ended up becoming Iðunn, Axl was dejected by her newfound attraction to Anders.

Accepting her lies that she did not feel anything for Anders, Axl proposed to her, which she accepted. However she later admitted to him that she had slept with Anders, to Axl's fury. Since their destinies were no longer intertwined, Gaia decided she needed to go on an OE, and asked Axl to remain behind. Axl was upset, and spent several days binge drinking in an attempt to get past the fact that they would never be together.

Jamie and Karla[]

Axl felt a spark when he first met Jamie, and after some flirting asked her out. Anders, however, was trying to set Axl up with Karla, who he saw as a potential candidate for Frigg. Though he never slept with Jamie, and would have preferred her over Karla, Anders manipulation of Karla made it hard for him to resist when she slept with him, being his first (though he fainting in the middle freaked him out). As she wasn't the Frigg, Axl never saw her again, but Jamie, who had seen Axl leaving with Karla, though him a player and broke things off with him.

Eva[]

When it was initially believed that Eva was Frigg, Axl made every effort to be with her, but felt that she was not the right person for her since she was only agreeing to be with him because she wanted to spite her father. But when he decided that he wanted to be with Gaia, he decided to break things off with her (a prospect he found daunting) but she took it better than he thought. When complications arose, including Eva being Hel and not Frigg, and the contract binding them at the cost of Mike's life, Axl admitted he did not look forward to being married to the Goddess of Death, and was relieved when Ty sorted the issues.

Hanna Larson[]

Even though Odin finally found his beloved Frigg, Axl and Hanna's relationship wasn't very long. When they laid eyes on each other they knew who they were inside and the love their god spirits shared.

About the god Odin[]

Odin, also called Wodan, Woden, or Wotan,  one of the principal gods in Norse mythology. His exact nature and role, however, are difficult to determine because of the complex picture of him given by the wealth of archaeological and literary sources. The Roman historian Tacitus stated that the Teutons worshiped Mercury; and because dies Mercurii(“Mercury’s day”) was identified with Wednesday (“Woden’s day”), there is little doubt that the god Woden (the earlier form of Odin) was meant. Though Woden was worshiped preeminently, there is not sufficient evidence of his cult to show whether it was practiced by all the Teutonic tribes or to enable conclusions to be drawn about the nature of the god. Later literary sources, however, indicate that at the end of the pre-Christian period Odin was the principal god in Scandinavia.

From earliest times Odin was a war god, and he appeared in heroic literature as the protector of heroes; fallen warriors joined him in Valhalla. The wolf and the raven were dedicated to him. His magical horse, Sleipnir, had eight legs, teeth inscribed with runes, and the ability to gallop through the air and over the sea. Odin was the great magician among the gods and was associated with runes. He was also the god of poets. In outward appearance he was a tall, old man, with flowing beard and only one eye (the other he gave in exchange for wisdom). He was usually depicted wearing a cloak and a wide-brimmed hat and carrying a spear.
